Web design and development are two highly required areas in today’s world. If these two disciplines attract your attention and you have considered starting as a freelancer in them, but you have much to learn do not despair. Fortunately, there are many ways to learn free online web design and development. The latter is important so that your initial investment is not so high and so your profit margin is higher soon.
The king of “how to”. There are many YouTube channels out there that can help you learn web design and development. Of course, some of them only come with tricks and tips rather than full courses on a subject. However, this knowledge shouldn’t be overlooked. Maybe there’s a creator that can help you solve a coding problem or find better tools.
Two of my favorite channels to learn web design and development are:
If you know a bit about coding and want to sharpen your abilities Free Code Camp is for you. This website helps you learn through challenges and exercises. It isn’t recommended for individuals who just started getting familiar with coding, but it is great to get out of your comfort zone and prove your abilities.
If you want to know about more sites like this one check out this article: How to learn web development? It includes a full list of websites to learn how to code for free. It also includes a list of websites with challenges to practice what you learn.
Udemy is a learning platform with courses on various topics. Among them are web design and programming. When you search in Udemy the most recommended courses are usually paid, however, you can filter to find the ones that are free.
Here are some examples of what courses you might find here:

Harvard University has a catalogue of courses of everything you can imagine. From divination methods to programming languages. It should be noted that you must ensure that the one you are choosing is indeed free, some have a cost and can be rather expensive. Here is an example of the options you will find on their page:

To access Hubspot Academy you only need to create an account. While Hubspot’s catalog on web design and programming is small (it’s much more extensive in terms of marketing or content creation) it has the advantage of being free and having certifications that you can share on LinkedIn. They include a transcript for every lesson which comes in handy to study and to keep as valuable material.
This is a course that you can access right now on its platform:

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is one of the most prestigious technology schools in the world. As well as Harvard offers free online courses. These are based on face-to-face classes that have been given during the semester, which means you’ll be accessing to the same level of education as people attending this university.
Here are a couple of examples of courses to learn web design and programming:
